Team Vasudha at COP 29, Baku

Team Vasudha was honored to participate in COP 29 in Baku, where we actively engaged in discussions that are shaping the future of global climate action. A key focus of the event was Climate Finance, particularly the New Collective Quantified Goal (NCQG). As a cornerstone of the Paris Agreement, the NCQG aims to establish a new financial target to support the climate actions of developing countries post-2025.

During COP 29, our team closely tracked NCQG negotiations, spoke at multiple sessions highlighting India’s diverse climate initiatives, especially at the sub-national level, and engaged in bilateral meetings with country delegations. We emphasised the need for tangible, adequate financial commitments, ensuring transparency and accountability in delivering these resources.

Our participation included speaking engagements at prominent pavilions, including the International Solar Alliance Pavilion, the Regional Climate Foundations Pavilion, and UNFCCC side events.

We also organised a side event on November 19, 2024, titled “Climate Finance for Urban Transformation in South Asia,” in collaboration with the Climate Action Network South Asia and the Sustainable Development Policy Institute, Pakistan.

Additionally, we showcased initiatives from several Indian states on Energy Transition and the Localisation of Climate Action at our exhibition booth, highlighting the significant strides being made at the regional level.

Our presence at COP 29 further reinforced our commitment to advocating for impactful climate finance solutions and fostering collaboration between national and local governments in addressing climate change.
