Vaishnavi T G Shankar
Vaishnavi Shankar is the Senior Advisor for Climate Resilience and Sustainable Cities at Vasudha Foundation. In this role, she focuses on integrating resilience into the development of small and medium-sized cities. She has over 13 years of experience in climate-sensitive and resilient urban development, with expertise in policy outreach, capacity building, research, and program management, particularly in urban climate governance, flood resilience, and nature-based solutions.
Vaishnavi has previously worked with the Climate Centre for Cities at the National Institute of Urban Affairs, Mahila Housing SEWA Trust, India Habitat Forum, and the Centre for Conservation Studies at CEPT University. She has contributed to India’s Long-Term Low Emission Development Strategy submitted to the UNFCCC, managed the ClimateSmart Cities Assessment for 126 cities, led projects for GIZ, World Bank, UNEP and WWF, besides developing several publications and training modules.
A Chevening Scholar, Vaishnavi holds a Master’s in ‘Urbanisation and Development’ from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Bachelor’s in Architecture from B.M.S College of Engineering, Bangalore.
Vaishnavi enjoys exploring historic monuments and settlements, besides experimenting with pottery and finding ways to transition to a more sustainable lifestyle.
