Gourav Panchal
Gourav Panchal, working as a GIS Analyst and contributing in projects which requires extensive analysis of optical and SAR satellite datasets including crop classification (Wheat, Rice, Sugarcane, Mustard, Cotton etc.), forest type identification, and land use/land cover mapping at both Panchayat and state levels using Machine learning algorithms. Additionally, he works on identifying suitable land areas for photovoltaic solar power, groundwater recharge zones, flood-prone areas, and mapping of infrastructure and resources in climate action plan.
He holds an M.Sc. in Geoinformatics from TERI University and a Bachelor’s degree in Geography Honors from Delhi University. Prior to joining Vasudha, Gourav worked at the Haryana Space Application Centre, Gurugram, as a Research Fellow, and also served as a Research Assistant at Manav Rachna University. He made key contributions in morphometric analysis, catchment and river analysis, site suitability mapping for rainwater harvesting, extensive seasonal analysis of crops, and geodatabase creation while working in these organisations.
Gourav Panchal’s areas of interest include using remote sensing and GIS for environmental sustainability, climate action planning, agricultural analysis, flood risk management, and water resource management. He also specializes in land suitability mapping for renewable energy projects and rainwater harvesting, applying geospatial technologies for sustainable development and resource optimisation.
